Italy<\/p>\n<p>2 Founder \u00a0of \u00a0the \u00a0Italian \u00a0Group \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0for \u00a0 \u00a0Evidence \u00a0 \u00a0Based \u00a0 \u00a0Sport \u00a0 \u00a0Osteopathy , Piedimonte \u00a0Matese\u00a0 (CE)\u00a0 Italy<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>ABSTRACT<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Background:<\/strong> \u00a0After \u00a0acute \u00a0injury, \u00a0traumatized \u00a0tissues \u00a0respond \u00a0following \u00a0the \u00a0healing \u00a0process \u00a0characterized \u00a0 by \u00a0the \u00a0inflammation \u00a0response, \u00a0fibroblastic \u00a0repair \u00a0response \u00a0and \u00a0remodeling \u00a0response. \u00a0This \u00a0paper \u00a0aims \u00a0at \u00a0 analyzing \u00a0 the \u00a0 effect \u00a0 potential \u00a0 of \u00a0 the \u00a0 osteopathic \u00a0 manipulative \u00a0 treatment \u00a0 (OMT) \u00a0 which \u00a0 is \u00a0 capable \u00a0 of \u00a0 facilitating \u00a0the \u00a0healing \u00a0process \u00a0<strong>Method:<\/strong> \u00a0A \u00a028-\u00ad\u2010year-\u00ad\u2010old \u00a0female \u00a0volleyball \u00a0player \u00a0diagnosed \u00a0with \u00a0a \u00a0grade \u00a0III \u00a0 acute \u00a0ankle \u00a0sprain \u00a0injury, \u00a0a \u00a0walking \u00a0plaster \u00a0cast \u00a0for \u00a020 \u00a0days \u00a0and \u00a0no \u00a0weight \u00a0load \u00a0on \u00a0her \u00a0foot, \u00a0requested \u00a0 OMT. \u00a0The \u00a0osteopath \u00a0scheduled \u00a0and \u00a0administered \u00a0five \u00a0OMT \u00a0direct, \u00a0indirect \u00a0techniques \u00a0sessions \u00a0<strong>Results:<\/strong> \u00a0 The \u00a0 patient \u00a0 had \u00a0 her \u00a0 first \u00a0 differentiated \u00a0 training \u00a0 on \u00a0 the \u00a0 27th \u00a0 day \u00a0 after \u00a0 the \u00a0 injury \u00a0 and \u00a0 her \u00a0 first \u00a0 official \u00a0 competition \u00a0on \u00a0the \u00a051st \u00a0day \u00a0<strong>Conclusions:<\/strong> \u00a0The \u00a0outcomes \u00a0of \u00a0this \u00a0single \u00a0case \u00a0are \u00a0linked \u00a0 \u00a0to \u00a0 \u00a0the \u00a0removal \u00a0of \u00a0 the \u00a0 somatic \u00a0 dysfunctions \u00a0 which \u00a0 seem \u00a0 to \u00a0 promote \u00a0 the \u00a0 healing \u00a0 process \u00a0 responses \u00a0 therefore \u00a0 justifying \u00a0 future \u00a0clinical \u00a0studies \u00a0dealing \u00a0with \u00a0the \u00a0OMT \u00a0mode \u00a0of \u00a0 \u00a0action<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key words:<\/strong> \u00a0Osteopathic \u00a0manipulative \u00a0treatment;
